About
Our commitment to the future of our planet means doing all we can—today. At RT London, a sustainable approach to the environment begins with thoughtful design that withstands everyday wear and tear, providing the best possible solutions for generations to come. So, you can depend on our furnishings for a lasting, sustainable life-cycle value. Purchasing products that endure is sustainable behavior that benefits everyone.
Recycled Content
We realize the value of keeping waste out of landfills. Melamine panels are manufactured using 100% pre-consumer recycled and recovered wood fiber, which save trees and avoids landfills. It is EPP (Environmentally Preferred Product) certified.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative
Using Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Certified wood products for all of our case goods is one of the many ways we help protect the environment’s natural resources.
Certified BioFlex Upholstery Foam
To help reduce our reliance on petroleum, our upholstered furniture utilizes polyols from soy plants. A natural, renewable resource, soy has been certified by CertiPUR-US and is guaranteed to be formaldehyde-free, PBDE-free, and will not deplete the ozone.
Air Quality
In an effort to improve indoor air quality, we’re currently compliant with Points 1 and 2 of the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Initiative that aims to eliminate the use of added formaldehyde in sheet good products. Our state-of-the-art UV finishes also emit no harmful VOCs.
Performance Measures
To ensure our production methods tread lightly, we take a whole system approach to reducing energy consumption, emissions, and waste. For example, we have a rigorous monitoring program in place to track and measure Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions from our finishing operations; the plan is to measure our progress weekly to ensure continued improvement. In addition, all wood and paper waste generated from our plants, offices, and shipping activities is recycled. And, by having local and regional suppliers for raw manufacturing goods, we keep transit emissions to an absolute minimum.
LEED Participation
An internationally recognized green building certification system, Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) seeks to improve performance metrics for: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions, and indoor environmental quality. RT London has participated in numerous LEED Certified projects and is proud to employ LEED-educated professionals to guide our environmental stewardship goals.
To create our case goods, we use SFI certified wood from carefully managed forests in North America.
We comply with the CARB Initiative, which is a mandatory regulation in California that aims to eliminate the use of added formaldehyde in sheet good products. Plus, our UV finishes won’t emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Both of these initiatives improve indoor air quality..
We offer several upholstery choices that are made with 100% Terratex® polyester, and our upholstery foam is made with soybeans instead of petroleum. Many of our textiles are woven with renewable resources like solar and wind energy.
