LEED

Each year in the United States, more than 1.7 million acres of land are developed. Buildings and their operations account for nearly 40% of total energy use and atmospheric emissions. They consume more than a quarter of all wood, raw materials and water, while creating 150 million tons of municipal solid waste.

In 1995, the U.S. Green Building Council, Washington D.C. established the LEED Green Building Rating System as the standard in “Green Building”. LEED focuses on the building envelope, however, permanent furniture can be considered for LEED Certification.

LEED is the nationally recognized voluntary standard for Green Building from the U.S. Green Building Council.
