Completed in 2022, RT London furnished 124 dorm rooms and shared spaces at the 801 East Men’s Shelter, enhancing the facility’s supportive environment.
The 801 East Men’s Shelter, located on the historic St. Elizabeth’s Hospital campus, was designed to serve a diverse population of men experiencing homelessness in Washington, D.C. The facility offers low-barrier shelter, medical respite care, and support for seniors and working individuals—all under one roof. With a capacity of 365 beds, the shelter required durable, practical, and welcoming furnishings that could withstand constant use while contributing to a sense of safety and dignity for residents accessing critical services.
RT London provided a full suite of design and custom furniture solutions for the 124 work dorm rooms and common areas within the shelter. Using products such as Maxwell, Hugo Lounge, and Custom Essentials Casegoods, the furnishings were selected for their comfort, resilience, and streamlined functionality. RT London’s thoughtful approach helped transform the facility into a supportive, healing environment that promotes stability and respect for all residents, regardless of their background or needs.
